Meet Emily
Once upon a time, there lived a little girl, Emily. From toes to nose, she dressed in the most peculiar clothing, thought up fantastical stories and read through them like the speed of light — okay, no, not that fast, but nearly. Although, in time, her clothes grew to be a little less peculiar and the stories a tad more realistic, Emily’s cravings for bright colors, avant-garde designs and escapism never went away. Perhaps, one could even say, the little girl lived on inside her.
After wrapping up a Bachelors of Science in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communications, a major in economics and a major in music at Northwestern University in March of 2019, Emily unwraps her love and curiosity for photography, videography and UI UX design. She was awarded a grant from The Garage’s Propel Program at Northwestern to create Onesie — an app featuring stories and videos about baby and toddler fashion.
Nostalgic about her time studying family economics, interactions of music and science and emerging market economies at the University College London for three months, Emily dreams of moving to the UK. She is also excited about the prospect of living in California, Chicago or New York — where she worked for LinkedIn’s Editorial team in New York’s Empire State Building for six months.
Between prototyping apps and playing piano, Emily films and edits videos, writes for embody la mode and posts to Instagram, like her millennial peers.
Ask her what she dreams her life will be like in five years, and she’ll likely say something along the lines of “traveling in Europe, writing stories and creating a startup or two.”
