Keeping An Agenda Is Worth Your Parents’ Advice

For years, my mom nagged me to keep a daily schedule. For years, I didn’t do it. What I’ve realized, though, is that anxiety, something I’ve got, can manifest in feelings of overwhelmingness. And, feeling overwhelmed can be sparked by creating a million to-do lists in your mind. I worry about remembering my worries, and it seems as though there is more to accomplish than there actually is. When everything is written down on paper, panic melts away as a more calm reality appears.

My journey began with a trip to www.nordstroms.com. My motivation for a mental organization makeover was to find a planner that inspired me. I picked this gorgeous Kate Spade 17-month agenda filled with quirky quotes and calendars. I’ve decided to use it generously and keep it as a memoir of my senior year in high school.758973_default

As the day grows old, pen down homework and events. The more detailed, the less stress. Also, use it to keep track of due dates, daily eats and fun happenings.

Though I often describe my parents’ advice as frivolous, perhaps I’m giving up opportunities to better myself, and, acknowledging the gob of attention i get, that may be millions of opportunities. Thanks, mom and dad.
